About this deal

Back in the day of his old hollyoaks videos who knew the pain and trauma going on behind his eyes and these days even on the worst of days Joe has kept me going in ways he can never imagine and I hope he knows how his honesty over his condition helps so many people every day and his amazing dance videos gave us all something to hold onto during lockdown. I absolutely loved listening to Joe Tracini narrate the audio book, and it just brought everything to life so much more than just reading the hardback. I don’t have the words to explain how helpful it is to know that you’re not alone, that you’re not the only one to have a broken brain if i can say it like that. When people with BPD get a diagnosis, or don’t get a diagnosis, and read a book like this, it’s like going through a check list of everything about you no-one could ever see or imagine. He will struggle with BPD all his life but he is much better than he was when all this started for him.

Bravo Mr Tracini what a masterpiece you have created, thank you for letting us into your mind and life! Part of my job is working with children who have suicidal ideation, self harm which affects their mental health. He also tells us about his journey to find what works for him, and his perseverance (and slip ups) as he found out what didn’t work for him too. I loved the way Joe manages to balance the serious messages within the book with lots of humour making it a lot easier to read. While serious Joe worries that “tomorrow is not a given”, BPD Joe retorts: “What d’you mean tomorrow is not a gibbon? That being said, I can honestly say, that this is one of the most raw and honest books I have ever read. This book is brutally honest and not an easy read but like Joe it’s full of love, humour and ultimately hope. I'm hoping I can be more honest with people about how I'm feeling and answer that dreaded question "how are you?

In one video, Tracini sings a song about the erectile dysfunction caused by his BPD; in another, he wears a snorkel and a thong to protect himself from Covid-19; elsewhere, he chats to Miriam Margolyes while she is chomping on a raw onion to ensure he keeps his social distance. It's a collection of the funny, sad, shocking and weird stuff that has happened to me along the way.Evidently the lockdown experience embedded with his girlfriend's family has been somewhat revelatory. Joe doesn’t tell you how to fix your problems in his book, but he does tell you something arguably even more important: that all is not lost even when your problems seem insurmountable.
