About this deal

Wondering how to paint your grizzled Exaction Squad operatives? The Warhammer painting team have pulled together a list of their recommended paints for that dark, serious look. Like all non-Leader operatives in the Hand of the Archon kill team, the Agent has 8 Wounds and a Save of 4+, which isn’t too vulnerable, but definitely not especially tough either. Kabalite Crimson Duellist (1 per kill team)

The Blaster is a kind of heavy Plasma weapon with 5 normal/6 critical damage and Armour Penetration 2. great for taking out armoured targets.

The rules for this kill team can be found in the Shadowvaults book. Read our guide for these Imperial elites here. Necron Hierotek Circle There are plenty of extra options in this kit to add variety – extra heads, multiple build options for each body, and most arm options can be used on any operative. Gallowdark scenery – mostly like the Into the Dark box, but with some added turrets and obstacles that the rulebook in the box has rules for.

This gives the bearer the Phantasm Grenade action, which lets you roll dice for each operative within a Square/3 inch radius of a point within Pentagon/6 inches of the bearer, and then give those operatives a -1 to their Action Point Limit for every roll of 4 or more. Like other grenades, this equipment action can only be made once. Kabalite Banner Which weapon you choose is up to you and your playstyle, but you definitely shouldn’t miss out on bringing a Heavy Gunner in your kill team. Kabalite Skysplinter Assassin (1 per kill team) With these two books (above and below), you've got all the extra rules that you need for running these Kill Teams if you missed out on the boxed sets. Shadowvaults covers the Necrons and the Kasrkin and Into The Dark explores the Kroot and the Imperial Navy Breachers. The biggest challenge for a Hand of the Archon kill team is elite kill teams with only a few operatives on the board, since that will severely limit how many Pain tokens you gain. Yes, killing a big guy above 10 Wounds will give you two Pain tokens, but only on one operative, so it becomes almost impossible to get everyone Pain tokens against elite kill teams, unless everyone gathers around the Flayer and his ability to bestow Pain tokens on a critical hit in combat. This huge corridor set of terrain is pretty neat, and combining two for 40k is pretty sweet as well. Killzone Upgrade: Shadowvaults He even comes with build options of his own – a pair of precious little carry-bags to ferry around globs of torn flesh and spent shell casings. The Imperial Navy Breacher teams specialise in ship-to-ship boarding actions, armed with gear to give them the edge in close-quarters combat. There’s a C.A.T. Unit to scout ahead, and one of the guys even has a shield that looks like a door – that’s some real commitment to the vibe. Most troopers can be built with combat shotguns, and there are free rules to use this unit in games of Warhammer 40,000.

The Hierotek Circle is possibly the oddest of the Kill Teams released so far but it's nice to see that they got themselves something unique rather than just having to draw on classic Necron Warriors for example. If you want to be aloof and quirky then I would say that the Necrons are the way to go. Collected Rules & Terrain Sets Extra components to build specialists like the Crimson Duellist, Disciple of Yaelindra, Elixicant, Flayer, and Skysplinter Assassin.

Kabalite Archsybarite - The kill team's leader comes with a variety of armament options. An accurate, low-damage but lethal splinter pistol, or a higher-damage AP2 blast pistol, and a venom blade (if the blast pistol is taken), or a power weapon with lethal 5+ and 6 crit damage or an agoniser with brutal and lethal 5+ (if the splinter pistol is taken). Or they can take a longer-range splinter rifle and array of blades combo. They gain an extra CP if you pass during your first play in each strategic phase, and they can take aim if armed with a splinter rifle to give it the balanced special rule. The Adeptus Arbites are a force that upholds the Imperial Law, but they aren't concerned with low-level crimes, that's the job of the enforcers, the Arbites are focused on anything that affects a world's ability to pay the Imperial tithe. The Extractions Squads are specialized units tasked with hunting down and capturing those that seek to avoid the Emperor's justice. Tomb World Kill Team (partially replaced by the Hierotek Circle kill team in the Shadowvaults book)
