The Nektar Impact GX61 Controller Keyboard is a compact, 61-key keyboard, designed for use with your selected DAW. This versatile controller keyboard features everything you need to play, edit and record instrumentation in your selected audio software. The keyboard boasts features such as a pitch-bend wheel, modulation wheels, expansive transport and transpose controls and more. The GX49 can also be connected to USB devices and iOS supported devices for added versatility. Additionally, you have the transpose buttons that shift the keyboard range of +/- 12 semitones. These buttons have LED indicators which turn red when activated. Likewise, this can also be set via the Transpose function accessed using the Setup button. Unzip the file and copy/paste the .dll files to the ‘Plugins’ folder within Reaper’s install path (usually C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)).

If you are using an LX25/LX25+, press key ‘C3’ (labeled ‘Enter’). If you are using any other Impact controller, skip this step. I choose the 61-note keyboard not because I want a portable MIDI controller, but because I want a playable one. For me, it’s perfect. I don’t need to spend several thousand just to have a keyboard when I can have the Nektar Impact GX61. Repeat this for control surface slot 2 but for the input choose ‘Impact LX** (Port 2)’ for Windows and ‘Impact LX** (MIDI2)’ on OS X. Enable input port ‘Impact LX**’ (in Windows) or ‘Impact LX** MIDI1’ (in OS X) and set Controller Type to ‘(generic controller)’ Press key ‘C2’ (Global Channel) on Impact LX’s keyboard. It’s not expensive, nor very bulky. It’s lightweight and offers you 61-key keyboard. Although the keys are amazing and playable, the sound it produces isn’t that loud. But, if you’re connecting it to your iPhone or iPad, you can hear it clearly without the need to use headphones. However, its volume isn’t ideal when you’re playing for the crowd. Impact GXP has dedicated buttons for direct control of patches and plugin slots. This brings true hardware synth-feel to sound selection: Load 10 instrument plugins into Nektarine and make them instantly selectable from the hardware. This includes soloing, layering and realtime switching. And like on a stage piano, you can press multiple slot buttons at the same time for instant layering in any combination.
