And now maybe all that was left was to see how it was all to be resolved – except I’m less than half way through! And when will she get any time to herself and an opportunity to even do anything remotely like changing her life situation. Three of her novels have been optioned for major screen adaptations with films of Behind Closed Doors, The Breakdown and The Therapist in development. As the story unfolds, both in the past and in the present I anxiously waited for the other shoe to drop. Paris I had my suspicions about a friend's marriage, my imagination went into overspin and Behind Closed Doors was the result!

Grace is frantic and considers putting off the wedding but Jack convinces her that while Millie won't be able to attend the wedding, she is otherwise just fine. There seems to be a great deal of new releases on the best sellers lists for psychological-thriller style novels about relationships between married couples and they all seem to be readable but quite mediocre and this was among one of three that I downloaded that has fantastic reviews but failed to deliver a satisfying and credible ending. Since we’re talking about a thriller/mystery, of course the story was more plot driven than character-driven. Sure enough, with a kiss to the top of my head, he agrees with Diane that I am indeed a superb cook, and I breathe a silent sigh of relief. After a whirlwind courtship, Grace and Jack get married, though the affair doesn’t go entirely smoothly, with Millie tumbling down the stairs hours before the ceremony and breaking her leg. Finally, the character of Esther's acute intuition as to Grace's predicament doesn't hinge on enough evidence - but I have a suspicion that this is one of B A Paris's salient points, that hunches get dismissed potentially to someone else's violent demise. His description of the thrill he gets from other people's fear is chilling and would be gut wrenching for anyone to sit through. Well, Millie was delighted and, as they began to waltz, everybody started applauding and then other couples got up from their seats and started to dance too. And what Jack didn't know at the time,' I say in turn, 'was that I had noticed him the week before but never thought he would be interested in someone like me. I've just finished reading this book and I'm glad I did so before reading too many of the reader reviews.

This is a chilling, claustrophobic, psychological thriller, that has had a huge emotional impact on me - and credit to B. The writing was fantastic, the pace of the story perfect for this kind of read and overall the story had a realistic vibe that made me think and almost gave me the chills.Though she attempts to drop hints that Jack is a crazy person, and has even tried to yell for help in the supermarket, she has stopped those pleas for assistance from the outside world because Jack has told the police and her doctors that she is mentally unstable.

Paris’s Behind Closed Doors, the reader is treated to a well-structured plot depicting a marriage that looks perfect on the outside but is actually hiding many secrets. A. Paris’s credit, she handles the style pretty elegantly, or at least better than I’ve seen in quite some time. Soon their family will grow when Millie, Grace’s little sister who has Down’s syndrome will come to live with them. Although I'm clearly not a fan, the crocodile-skinned lady, and many on Goodreads, absolutely loved it.Grace was just about to ask Millie to stop when Jack appeared out of nowhere, dancing with Millie and charming everyone watching, including Grace. A. Paris, is a story about a perfect-looking marriage that is anything but what it appears to be on the surface.

Millie loves music and she was enjoying herself so much that she got up from her seat and began to dance in front of the bandstand. However, they go on with the wedding without both Millie and Grace’s parents, who ride in the ambulance with Millie, who has broken her leg. Also, IMO would have been better with more psychological elements…I know, I know…I’m greedy, but it's what I would have preferred. Jack had been very clever in that respect; he had left her some water, but not quite enough to last her two weeks until we got home.Behind Closed Doors” is a gripping, thought-provoking thriller with some psychological and mystery elements that will keep you at the edge of your seat. and as much as i hate to use this review space to rant about something only tangentially related to the book, these things matter to me.
