About this deal

Thanks to the wide frequency response and exceptional audio fidelity, they allow you to record – confident you’re hearing the real thing. I’ve heard a really wide range of people putting forth opinions on this set of headphones, and the truth of the matter is that so many divergent articles can’t all be right. The Philips SHP9500 are marginally better headphones for neutral sound than the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO. I find that the 80 ohm 770s work well on any device and yet they still benefit from dedicated amplification (which in my case comes in the form of a couple of Little Dot Mk 2 head amps in a couple of different systems.

This model will give the rest of the competition a bit of a run for their money in terms of comfort, possible longevity, and sound isolation due to their construction, although, sound-wise there are better options out there. Designed for studio and 'on-the-go' use, DT240 closed back headphones offer 'deep bass, vivid mids, and clean defined highs'.The comfort of the DT770 is one of the reasons the headphone has its legendary status in the music industry, with plush velour earpads which are interchangeable with soft leatherette pads (available separately) the DT770 can be worn for hours at a time without any complaint so you can master all day. High sound pressure level capability, excellent isolation from ambient noise, and comfort over long periods. For producers and engineers, the DT770s can even be the difference when it comes to achieving a good mix. DPD have their own arrangements in place to ensure deliveries are as safe as possible (they will sign the hand reader for you).

Towards the mid-bass, there is a narrow bump between what to me sounds like 130-180hz, which provides an additional sense of kick and warmth to that region. Of course, as it always is with these things: this is merely a suggestion and a starting point, not the ultimate settings you should set and forget. I’ve soldered Beyerdynamic cans back together for friends before, but it’s not something most people are willing to do. Thanks to the closed back construction and 'bass reflex' technology - which improves the overall bass response - these headphones deliver an even and flat sound with fantastic response across all frequencies. Final words, the only reason why I gave Quality 4 stars is because of the non-detachable cable - if you are careful with your cables and you want a pair of amazing cans, look no further.Given that this headset is so old, it’s a little behind the times where it comes to features that content creators and casual listeners have come to expect from their headphones.

For the listening tests I used music from a wide variety of genres including Rock, Jazz, Classical, Acoustic, Hip-Hop, and latin. Low-bass is flat but audible down to an extremely low frequency, meaning it shines when listening to genres like EDM and hip-hop. When evaluating the frequency response score with the Average calibration profile, the pair to pair consistency of the given model is taken into account – if we have measured a considerable frequency response inconsistency among multiple pairs of the given model, the score drops, as the profile loses accuracy. Using an innovative bass reflex system that gives life to all the frequency ranges, from the crispest tops to the lowest of the bass range the DT770 handles it all.

For decades now, professional users all around the world have placed their trust in our classic range: DT 770/880/990 PRO.
