About this deal

Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive.

When he's bottled everything up and feels nothing, the page is grey with a hint of blue and Llewellyn is all alone.

This story contains the positive message that all feelings are temporary and will pass and that it’s best to feel one’s feelings, good or bad, in real time. These 4 or 5-star reviews represent the opinions of the individuals who posted them and do not reflect the views of Etsy. The ratings/reviews displayed here may not be representative of every listing on this page, or of every review for these listings. Each picture represents an activity that your child can do to help him or her feel better when having big uncomfortable feelings. Each jar holds 101 little cards printed with "feelings words": gleeful, insecure, grateful, angry, cranky, courageous, hopeful, and many more.

Sometimes we can see that our children are having a difficult time managing their feelings, but we’re not really sure what to do about it. Talking about breathing, using guided belly breathes can be a fantastic tool to use in the moment to help children manage big feelings. But unlike the previous picture book I read, this one has value and merit for children to learn to control their emotions because everyone knows children are volatile. Each time that he does this process - identifies that he is feeling uncomfortable, makes a good choice to move or shift the feeling, and then be in a calm place to try and address the cause of the problem - the pathway in the brain is reinforced and the process becomes easier.

Uncomfortable emotions (or ones which crop up inappropriately or unexpectedly) are shoved into jars and shut into a closet.I mean, I was definitely sold on the idea, bottling things up in my mind is fun, but if I can truly bottle them? My “forever” marriage was in shambles, and I didn’t know if I could ever trust my own judgment again. Each emotion has its own color -- black for scared, pink for joy, red for anger, yellow for excited.

Some of the technologies we use are necessary for critical functions like security and site integrity, account authentication, security and privacy preferences, internal site usage and maintenance data, and to make the site work correctly for browsing and transactions. Kids, parents, and educators will enjoy the games and cards at home, at school, at childcare, in the office, while traveling, at parties, in youth groups, and at camp. It helps younger children to relate them to colours, and referring back to their colourful jar full of wonderful emotions!

It can give us a more complete picture of just how many things – and what – we might be feeling about a situation. I can identify myself AS those things (I could believe I am just an annoyed person, I am just a tired person, I am a doubter), OR I can look at them over in that jar and notice them for what they are…just feelings. This activity is one we use in our Hands on Healing group to support families in communicating regularly about feelings. Feelings in a jar has been great in my practice to use for rapport building and helping children identify their feelings. The idea is that you help them identify the discomfort and then direct them to the jar so that they can choose something to help them feel better.
