About this deal

In a bid to tap into the gin craze that shows no signs of slowing down, the trend for Japanese-inspired versions of the spirit has been sweeping the UK. The fruits of this endeavour are born out in the delicate blossom aromas that emulate those found in the mountains and coastline surrounding our home in Kagoshima. Japan has been riding high in popularity (and influence) across the food and drinks industry for the past 18 months, with Matcha and Yuzu having already swept the globe,” Olivier Ward, Editor and Co-Founder of Gin Foundry told Good Housekeeping. A trio of “world botanicals” gins has been added to the range as part of a “Hortus gin festival”, which also includes gin liqueurs and pre-mix gin and tonics in cans.

The key botanical is cherry blossom, the symbolic flower that is celebrated at festivals around Japan each spring. This Gin from the Akori team is inspired by the Japanese Cherry Blossom (if you hadn't guessed from the name) and is made using a ice based spirit, however is produced within Barcelona. A light and elegant pink grapefruit and elderflower gin cocktail could add a touch of class to any night. This 20% abv liqueur is distilled in traditional copper stills and bottled in packaging featuring a similarly traditional design.

However, the spirits company Destilerias Company actually takes its cue from the Far East for this gin, adding typical Japanese botanicals such as dragon fruit, kumquats and ginger. We redistill our shōchū with juniper, regional citrus, cherry blossom and native botanicals, always exercising restraint in the pursuit of clarity and perfection. Of course, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many nature lovers don't have the chance to visit the blooms in person this year, but that doesn't mean you can't still bring some cherry blossom magic into your own home — cocktail style. When you subscribe to our VIP Club you’ll receive your exclusive surprise bottle in the middle of the month. Hibiscus, rose and pink grapefruit join the eponymous florals, with juniper spiciness running along throughout. The Palace of Holyroodhouse, the Scottish seat of the Royal Family, has launched its first gin - infused with herbs from the historical garden. abv gin features delicate hints of sancho peppers and cherry blossom, which are sourced in Japan, says Lidl.
